In the next word picture for God, we can consider God as our friend.
As our relationship with God grows and progresses, there is an opportunity for us to become friends, perhaps analogous to a parent and their adult child.
As friends, we (that is, God and us) spend time together. We communicate with each other. We share. And we just hang out.
Even so, we need to be reminded that although there is friendship, there is not equality. God is the guiding partner in our friendship with him. May we never forget that.
Consider these verses about friendship: Exodus 33:11, Proverbs 17:17, Proverbs 18:24, Proverbs 27:6, and John 15:13.
In a respectful, God-honoring way, may we embrace God as our friend.
