Are You a Wise Guy?
Do you possess wisdom? Are you wise? A wise guy?
According to the dictionary, wisdom is “The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight; common sense; good judgment.”
Now consider what James writes about wisdom.
He writes “the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17, NIV).
This means that God’s wisdom is:
- peace loving
- always gentle
- willing to yield to others
- full of mercy
- full of good deeds
- doesn’t show favoritism
- is always sincere
That sounds a lot different, doesn’t it?
This is true wisdom, the kind that can only come from God.
